Changing my hair color is one of the easiest ways for me to completely refresh my look. I usually prefer shades that still feel wearable but have enough warmth or depth to make the hair look more interesting.
These three options create very different results, from soft golden brown to vibrant copper and deep burgundy, so I would choose between them depending on how dramatic I want the change to be.
L’Oréal Paris Excellence Creme 6G Light Golden Brown
This shade gives me the kind of warm brown result that looks polished without feeling too dramatic. The golden undertone makes the color appear softer and more luminous, especially in natural light, and I like how it can add dimension to long, straight hair as well as defined curls.
What I appreciate most is how versatile this tone feels. It sits somewhere between a classic medium brown and a warmer caramel shade, so it can make the hair look richer without turning noticeably red. On smoother styles, the color reflects light beautifully, while curls make the warmer tones look even more dimensional.
For me, this would be the safest choice when I want a visible change that still feels natural enough for everyday wear.
Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color Intense Auburn
When I want something much warmer and more noticeable, an intense auburn shade immediately catches my attention. The copper-red finish feels especially flattering when I want the hair to become the main feature of the entire look.
I love how this type of color changes depending on the lighting. Indoors, it can look like a deep warm brown with red undertones, while sunlight brings out brighter copper and ginger tones. The effect is particularly beautiful on layered hair because every section catches the light differently.
On curly hair, the shade looks even more expressive because the individual curls create natural highlights and shadows. I would choose this color when I want something bold, warm, and full of personality.
Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Crème 415 Soft Mahogany Dark Brown
For a darker and moodier result, this shade is my favorite of the three. The deep brown base mixed with burgundy and mahogany tones creates a rich finish that looks almost chocolate-brown in softer lighting and much more red or berry-toned in brighter light.
I especially like how sophisticated it looks on both curls and straight hair. On curls, the darker red tones create incredible depth between the strands, while straight hair makes the color look glossy and almost velvety.
This is the shade I would choose when I want a dramatic transformation without going for an extremely bright red. It feels elegant, slightly mysterious, and perfect for colder seasons or whenever I want my hair to look noticeably deeper and richer.
